Tsomgo Lake, at over 3,700 metres, can still have snow around its edges well into early summer, so warm layers are essential even on a spring visit. Darjeeling’s clearest mountain views – including Kanchenjunga from Tiger Hill – tend to come in the September to December window, after the monsoon clears the haze. The July-August monsoon brings heavy rain and occasional landslide-related road closures across both Sikkim and the Darjeeling hills, so it’s best avoided if your schedule allows.
